Hosta ‘June’ arose as a sport of the classic ‘Halcyon’, registered by Neo Plants Ltd. in 1991 and quickly recognized with major honors including Hosta of the Year 2001, the Alex J. Summers Distinguished Merit Award, and the Benedict Garden Performance Award. Its English origin and patented status helped establish it as one of the most influential modern introductions.

The thick, ovate leaves carry distinctive medio variegation that is lutescent: centers open pale green to cream and deepen toward gold or chartreuse, set against irregular blue-green margins that often streak inward. Heavy substance gives excellent pest resistance and keeps the foliage looking fresh long after many other hostas have faded.

Pale lavender flowers open in July and August. The plant is fertile, and the gold-centered, powdery-blue-edged foliage shows its best color with some morning sun while remaining a standout collector piece in filtered light.
