This dazzling clump is a “must” in all shade gardens. In midsummer, a 2′ wide Hosta ‘Grand Prize’ clump is topped with 2′ tall spikes of dark lavender flowers! Hosta ‘Grand Prize’ is what’s known as a 3.5-2-2 aneuploid chimera…it tried to become a tetraploid by doubling its chromosome number, but was stunted in development. Â
